To many, the concept of generational curses is genuine. Some even go as far as to label it as a spiritual attack. In this article, my focus is not spiritual. Instead, I want to address what holds us back and what we can do about it.
Growing up, I heard people talk about family curses. They would say that they were heavy drinkers because of their parents. Others blame their family for being poor. I believed what they said until life taught me differently. Although I don't deny the power of being sucked into this mindset, I think we can choose a different path.
Who you let yourself become is totally up to you, no one else. The late John Wooden said, "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."
Maybe it's time to turn our attention to investing in our future and not focus on the failure of others. One way to break the curses (If they even exist) is to read more widely. For instance, you could start reading a book for just 15 minutes. Then, as you read, look up any books mentioned by the author. I used this strategy, and it worked. The goal is to break igornance using education.
It doesn't matter who didn't go to college; what's stopping you? If it's a lack of money, look for grants or scholarship programs. Would you like to purchase your first home? Consider paying yourself first before paying your bills. You can do this by setting up an automatic withdrawal with your bank. How much should you save? You can start saving ten percent every month.
Next, you can start eliminating your bad debt (Liabilities). If you need a plan, you can start by clicking here
Maybe it's time to focus on self-confidence instead of saying you are dumb or ignorant. My coach, Dr. Keith Johnson, said, "Failure happens when we give it consent." Also, the late Zig Ziglar said, "A failure is an event, not a person." You have the potential to improve your life and pass it on to the next generation.
The more you take action to improve your life, the more you don't have time to discuss any generation curse. Instead, you must have a vision for your life and the generation following you.
